The Pornhub statisticians have been hard at work measuring the impact of various worldwide events on the traffic numbers of the world’s biggest porn site. With over 1 billion monthly visits the amount of data was immense to process and analysis, the result of their long Red Bull fuelled nights is the infographic below for your data pleasure. The stats show that people pull themselves away from their favorite website just long enough to watch things like the Olympics, the World Series, Presidential elections etc. We can form this conclusion based upon the actual drops in traffic to Pornhub during these events in different regions throughout the world. We also observed that traffic spikes as soon as the event ends and we’re here to welcome you with open arms.

There are some fascinating statistics in the infographic above that show you how world events affect different people in different regions of the globe. The Olympic opening ceremonies are a case in point, the data shows that the British were very interested in tuning in, as it was on their home soil. A 27% drop in traffic is quite significant, especially when compared to the United States which didn’t much care for the event choosing instead to take advantage of themselves to the tune of a 2% gain in traffic!

When Osama Bin Laden was killed, 7% of Americans pulled up their pants as Osama got caught with his down! The opposite effect was seen when people believed the Mayan Calendar meant the world was ending, and instead of trying to find a mate to share one last sexual moment with, a 10% spike from the US showed that Americans wanted to stay in the comfort of their own homes on a solo mission to have sex with someone they loved.

The biggest traffic drop of the year was brought on by new year’s eve in 2012. Statistics showed that people actually do leave their homes from time to time, with massive traffic drops across the world! USA down 34%,  Brazil down 36%, France down 60% and Argentina down a whopping 70%.
