Southeastern Conference College Towns

In this edition of Insights, we’ve joined with our friends at Bustle to see what effect students at various Southeastern Conference universities have on Pornhub usage in each city. To do so, our statisticians compared Pornhub usage in the two weeks before school starts, to usage immediately after the new semester begins. The time periods have been adjusted to match the dates for each university.

By looking at traffic changes, we can see exactly how the influx of students affects the usage of Pornhub. In SEC East, the University of Florida increases Pornhub traffic in Gainesville by 22%. The University of Georgia causes a 15% increase in Pornhub traffic over the general population of Athens.

In SEC West, students returning to Ole Miss cause an incredible 35% increase in Pornhub traffic within Oxford, followed closely by Auburn University which increases Auburn Alabama traffic by 31%.

Much of the traffic increase comes from visitors in the 18-24 year old age demographic. For example, the number of 18-24 year olds increases by 28% in Gainesville Florida, and 52% in Oxford Mississippi.

Our statisticians also found significant changes in the amount of time the average person spends on Pornhub in these cities. The average time on site in Colombia, South Carolina in early August is 11 minutes and 9 seconds. After students return to the University of South Carolina on August 22nd, time on site drops by 23 seconds to 10 minutes and 46 seconds.

Students returning to Texas A&M cause the average time on site in College Station Texas to drop by 30 seconds, from 9 minutes and 15 seconds to 8 minutes and 45 seconds.

University students can also cause significant changes in the type of terms being searched for in each city. The following results are based on each term’s proportion of all searches, in order to compensate for traffic changes. So the percent values indicates an increase in popularity within each city, rather than actual search volume.

By combining search results in all SEC East cities, we can see that the popularity of searches for “college dorm” increase by 44%, “anal creampie” by 29% and “teacher” by 26%. When students return to SEC West cities, searches for “amateur college” increase in popularity by 59%, “thot” (That Ho Out There) by 49% and “lesbian threesome” by 25%.

Of course it should be noted that the influx of students may cause the permanent residents of each city to search more often for college related porn as well. So even if students are not entirely responsible for the searches, they certainly have an influence on what searches are popular in each city.

Our statisticians compared searches in each SEC East city to see what terms grew the most in popularity in the week after university students returned. In Athens Georgia, searches for “babysitter” increased by 145%. In Columbia Missouri “jerk off instructions” increased by 622%. Students at the University of South Carolina caused searches for “creampie gangbang” to increase by 121% in Colombia. In Lexington Kentucky searches for “cartoon” increased by 23% after the 24th of August. And Vanderbilt students were 148% more likely to search for “bbw” compared to permanent residents of Nashville Tennessee.

Over in SEC West, returning students at Auburn University caused a 128% increase in the popularity of “big black dick”. Searches for “ticking” increased 263% in Baton Rouge after LSU students return to school after August 22. In Fayetteville Arkansas, searches for “massage” grew by 62%, and “big booty white girls” grew 66% in Oxford Mississippi. At Mississippi state, searches for “hentai” grew 223% in Starkville, and the popularity of “strap on” increased 417% in Tuscaloosa Alabama.
