On July 10, Portugal became the Euro 2016 champions after defeating France 1-0 in the final match of the series. Fans in Portugal, France and indeed all of Europe and the world were glued to their screens as the two teams faced off in a heated match. In the past, Pornhub has seen major traffic fluctuations during events like the Superbowl and NHL and NBA finals, so our friends at LAD Bible asked our statisticians to see what effect the Euro finals may have had.

Austria and the Euro 2016
Heute.at contacted us to see how traffic to Pornhub was affected when Austria tuned into the Euro 2016 games. Of course Austrians were most interested in the games in which Austria was playing, with a drop of nearly 30% during Match 36 on June 22 against Iceland. There was an equal amount of interest in Match 34 between Hungary and Portugal, similar to the 28% drop for Match 24 when Portugal played Austria.
UEFA Champion’s League Final 2016
The 2016 UEFA Champions League Final took place on May 28, 2016 in Milan Italy. Spanish teams Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid faced off. After a close match, Real Madrid won 5-3 on penalties following a 1-1 draw at the end of extra time. The match was watched closely by fans all over Europe, and much like the Superbowl and the World Cup, the Champions League Final caused a major drop in traffic to Pornhub. From 20h to 23h Central European Time, traffic in Spain was down -19% compared to the same time period on a typical Saturday. Iceland dropped -17%, Malta -15% and Norway -14%.
Because Spain had the largest overall traffic drop, we looked at the hour-by-hour traffic along with the capital Madrid and the average change for all of Europe. As the game started at 20h, traffic dropped off quickly and remained much lower than normal during the duration of the game. The tied extra time left fans on the edge of their seats, and traffic dropped as low as 27% in Spain, 44% in Madrid and 7% across all of Europe. After the game ended fans headed back to Pornhub in droves, with traffic across all of Europe reaching 13% above normal, plus 16% in Spain. Traffic took about an hour longer to recover in Madrid, reaching as high as 17% above normal at 1h.
Pornhub Traffic During Super Bowl 50
Pornhub Insights has shown many times before how televised sports events can greatly affect traffic to our site. Take for example our coverage of the NBA, NHL and World Cup. In 2015 we also found that Super Bowl 49 had caused a major traffic fluctuation during the game, so our friends at the New York Daily News were curious to see if the same held true one year later. On Sunday February 7, 2016 the Carolina Panthers met the Denver Broncos at Levi Stadium in San Francisco Bay Area to determine who would be the National Football League Champion. In the end, the Broncos came out ahead 24 to 10.
United Kingdom’s Footballer Searches
Our friends over at Dream Team FC were curious to know which football stars got the most play on Pornhub. Our statisticians got to work, and the result is the chart that you see below which ranks the top searched soccer players on our site, in the United Kingdom. The clear frontrunner is Portuguese player Cristiano Ronaldo, followed in second place by Mr. Posh Spice himself, David Beckham. Argentina‘s Lionel Messi nabs third place. Even though there is no actual content on Pornhub depicting any of these footballers getting frisky, this list paints a clear picture of who the UK wishes there were sex tapes available from. Pornhub & Alabama
After having spent some time looking at the porn habits of visitors to our site in both the State of New York and Illinois, the Pornhub statisticians have headed south. We’re looking at you, Alabama! That’s right, we’re in the Heart of Dixie examining what the people of Alabama like to look at the most when playing with theirs.
