Launching on July 6, the company’s latest endeavor will be a month-long fundraising campaign dedicated to raising awareness of, and stimulating meaningful conversation around, the importance of spaying and neutering animals to decrease overpopulation.
As part of the campaign, Pornhub will donate one cent for every 2000 video viewed on the site resulting in roughly $30,000, to the mobile spaying and neutering clinics of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), the largest animal rights organization in the world.
Founded in 1980, PETA is dedicated to establishing and defending the rights of all animals, operating under the simple principal that animals are not ours to eat, wear, experiment on, or use for entertainment. While a healthy sex life can be great for humans, the sex drives of unaltered dogs and cats have created a massive overpopulation crisis. Each year, more than 3 million cats and 4 million dogs enter animal shelters in the U.S. This campaign is to help ensure that no more puppies or kittens are born into a world already overflowing with unwanted animals. Altered animals are less likely to contract deadly, contagious diseases including feline AIDS and feline leukemia, which are spread through bodily fluids.
