Thanks to a Facebook event called “Storm Area 51”, 1.5 million people have RSVP’d their interest in breaching the top secret military base in Nevada to find out what’s really been going on there. It’s hard to say if anyone will actually show up and defy the U.S. government, but Mashable asked if this has had any effect on Pornhub’s searches. Our statisticians soon found out that thousands of (on-planet) visitors are already preparing for an extraterrestrial encounter by checking the ins and outs of alien sex on Pornhub.
Since July 12th, searches for “Area 51” have surged from zero to 160,000 in just 4 days. July 16th alone had nearly 59,000 searches.
Our statisticians then probed further into all “alien” related searches, and found that this was a surprisingly popular genre even before going viral. Over the last year, an average day sees more than 30,000 people shoot their rockets off to “alien” videos.
As the Area 51 memes made their way around the internet, the popularity of “alien” searches increased by +217% on July 2nd, and then again by +199% on July 15th.
The most popular alien related search is “alien impregnation” followed by “alien sex”. Other interesting searches include “alien belly” (a reference to the scene from the original 1979 Alien movie?), “alien eggs”, “alien abduction” and “alien probe”.
Women are proportionately +33% more likely to search for “alien” related videos when compared to men, and visitors aged 18 to 24 are +67% more likely to search when compared to all other age groups. Popularity drops off as visitor age increases, with those over the age of 45 being -25% less likely to search for “alien” porn.
Across the United States, visitors from Alaska are the most likely to search for “alien” porn by +107% more than the U.S. average. West Virginians are +82% more interested, South Dakota +73% and Wyoming +61%.
The states least likely to search for “alien” are Rhode Island at -36%, District of Colombia -31% and Massachusetts -29%.
Worldwide, visitors from Czechia are proportionately the most likely to search for “alien” by +67%. Australia is +41% more likely, Russia +38%, United States +25%, Canada +16% and the United Kingdom +10%.
