Pornhub Premium Valentine’s Day

Every February 14th, the Pornhub team shows our love for our users by offering 100% free access to the Pornhub Premium service for a full day. In 2017 more than 3.5 million took advantage of Free Valentine’s Premium access, and we are expecting a lot more people this year.

In anticipation of the big day, our statisticians decided to see what millions of people are most likely to do when they have access to Pornhub Premium for 24 hours. By comparing usage of Pornhub Premium’s on February 14th, 2017 to usage on an average day, they were able to estimate how the influx of new visitors differed from the people who were already using the Premium service every day.

Philadelphia Super Bowl Parade

Hot on the heels of our 2018 Super Bowl Insights, Pornhub’s statisticians focused in on Philadelphia’s traffic change during their February 8th parade celebrating the Eagles’ win. While traffic from the city of brotherly love was up slightly before 9am, it began to drop by 10am as fans headed to the chilly streets to find a good view. By 11am, traffic was down -6% below that of an average Thursday, and as the celebrations continued, traffic remained below average until 3pm at which time there was a slight increase above average.

Philadelphia’s trending search terms on parade day included “superbowl”, “parade”, “football” and “cheerleader”. Their brotherly love showed through with a +173% increase in searches for “philadelphia”. The popular search “big dick” increased an additional +28% on parade day — perhaps due to Nick Foles’ new nickname “Big Dick Nick”.

On Tuesday, February 6th, the first of the five-night run of the most famous Italian music events took place. Yes, we are talking about the Italian song Festival of Sanremo!

The festival is a song contest held annually since 1951 in the so-called “city of flowers” Sanremo in the Ligurian seaside. Over the years, this traditional show how launched several world-famous Italian singers such as Andrea Bocelli, Laura Pausin and Eros Ramazzotti.

This 68th year of the Sanremo Music Festival was broadcast as usual on the National Channel Rai Uno from the Ariston Theatre, and hosted by Claudio Baglioni, Michelle Hunziker and Pierfancesco Favino. The first night has reached 11,6 million viewers, so we joined with our friends at Fanpage.it to see if the talented voices were enough to take people’s attention away from Pornhub as happened last year.

Women’s March 2018

This past weekend was the one-year anniversary of President Trump’s swearing in, also marking the anniversary of last January’s Women’s March and the female empowerment movement it sparked in 2017.

All across the United States and in many cities around the world, women took to the streets in solidarity to give voice and visibility to some of today’s most pressing issues. Last year, Pornhub Insights took a look at the 2017 Women’s March and found major traffic changes to the site, especially with female traffic in cities where the largest marches were organized.

Stormy Daniels Searches

AVN Hall of Fame pornstar Stormy Daniels (nsfw) has appeared in adult videos since the early 2000s, but recently shot to the forefront of public attention when her back-door dealings with U.S. President Trump were revealed.  Newsweek contacted us to see how the story may have affected searches on Pornhub.  Our analytics data revealed that Stormy’s story sent millions of curious visitors to Pornhub, where searches containing “Stormy Daniels” increased from a daily average of 2500 to more than 2 million searches in just 5 days.  Worldwide searches peaked at 375% above the 2 week average on January 14th.

Nothing sets Washington D.C. abuzz like a sex scandal, so it’s no surprise that Stormy Daniels searches increased more drastically in the capital than the rest of the United States.  Searches peaked at 332% above the 2 week average in D.C. on January 14, and 272% higher country-wide.
