The United States held its 2022 midterm elections on Tuesday, November 8th with incumbents and challengers vying to gain political ground in the Senate and House levels of government. Our friends at Mashable asked the Insights team to take a closer look at election day traffic changes.

Across the United States, Pornhub’s statisticians observed a +12% increase in traffic at 7am on election day, with traffic staying above average from the morning until mid-afternoon.

As polls closed and results were tallied, traffic in the United States dipped as much as -7% below average levels for a Tuesday evening. The results were similar to our 2018 Midterm Election Insights.

In this edition of Pornhub Insights, we’re taking a look at the top searches and categories preferred by Pornhub’s Irish visitors. Ireland ranks 42nd for traffic to Pornhub, which is much higher than its worldwide population rank of 124th. The average visitor from Ireland spends 9 minutes and 33 seconds on Pornhub, which is about 20 seconds less than the worldwide average.

In our Year in Review, we took a look at United States’ Most Popular Searches, when compared to the rest of the country. Seeing as the United Kingdom is Pornhub’s second biggest source of traffic, our intrepid statisticians took a closer look to see how porn tastes differ across various parts of the U.K.

Relative Searches

Relative searches indicate what locals are more likely to type into the search box compared to their neighbors. These terms are all within the Top 100 searches in the U.K., and make up a larger proportion of the total searches in each region when compared to the average popularity across the rest of the U.K.

Our statisticians report that visitors from Scotland are 55% more likely to search “pegging” (a female performing anal sex using a strap-on dildo). Visitors from the North East are 171% more likely to search “chav”, the North West are 73% more into “chubby” porn, and East Midlands have a 77% bigger taste for “bbw”.

Visitors from Greater London are 223% more likely to search “turkish” compared to the rest of the U.K., while those from the West Midlands are 136% more into “indian”.
