On Tuesday, February 7th, the first of the five-night run of the most famous Italian music events took place. Yes, we are talking about the Italian song Festival of Sanremo!
The festival is a song contest held annually since 1951 in the so-called “city of flowers” Sanremo in the Ligurian seaside. Over the years, this traditional show how launched several world-famous Italian singers such as Andrea Bocelli, Laura Pausin and Eros Ramazzotti.
The 51st Super Bowl took place on Sunday February 5th and saw AFC champions the New England Patriots play NFC champions the Atlanta Falcons. In the year’s largest televised sports event, millions watched as the Patriots overcame the largest deficit in Superbowl history to beat the Falcons 34 to 28 in overtime. Many live sports events cause a major drop in Pornhub’s traffic, but few are as drastic as the Super Bowl, when even non-football followers tuned in to see Lady Gaga’s halftime show, and the myriad of big budget commercials. Our friends at Cnet checked in to see how this year’s game stacked up.
Following our recent Year in Review, The Scottish Sun reached out to see how Pornhub visitors from their country stand out. Scotland accounts for 8% of Pornhub traffic from the United Kingdom, nearly matching it’s proportion of the regional population. The most searched for term in Scotland is a rather patriotic “Scottish”, followed by mainstays like “lesbian”, “step mom” and “milf”. Searches for “British” come in at 6th place, and “British Chav” 10th. Searches for “JOI” (Jerk Off Instructions) rank relatively high in Scotland compared to the rest of the United Kingdom, as does “celebrity sex tape”.
According to The Daily Mail, rap artist and J-Lo beau Drake was spotted having dinner with adult film star Rosee Divine in Amsterdam. As more news outlets picked up the story, Pornhub searches for Rosee skyrocketed by 2656% on January 25th and made her the most searched for person on Pornhub.
Today we’re joined by our friends at UNO to see how porn usage in Argentina differs from elsewhere in the world. Argentina ranks 18th worldwide for visitors to Pornhub, although it’s population places it at 32nd. The average visitor from Argentina is 37 years old, and 23% are female, which is just slightly under the worldwide average of 24%. Only 57% of Argentina’s Pornhub traffic comes from mobile devices — far less than the 70% used worldwide. The average visitor spends just 8 minutes and 36 seconds on Pornhub, 44 seconds less than the world’s average, and they’re more likely to visit on Mondays.
The 2017 Women’s March was a worldwide protest that took place on January 21, 2017. The protest was aimed at the newly inaugurated U.S. President, and millions of women took part in marches all over the world. Our friends at The Next Web were interested to see how this may have affected traffic to Pornhub.
As we discovered in our 2016 Year in Review, women account for over 26% of Pornhub’s worldwide visitors, so it was only natural that we would see significant changes in the number of female visitors coming to Pornhub on January 21st.
