Today the Pornhub statisticians are off to South America for a look at how Argentina gets down with the best site in the world. As you’ve come to expect from the Insights team, we have all of the dirty details on the country that ranks in at an impressive 17th place for most visitors to Pornhub in the world. ARGENTINA AT A GLANCE
As seen in the Pornhub 2014 Year In Review, most countries around the world get busiest on Pornhub on Mondays to help ease into the new work week, then wind things down a little over the weekend. Argentina follows suit in this sense but beats out the world average by an impressive 5% in regards to their 28% proportion of female viewers. Well done señoritas!
Did you know that during the late Cretaceous Period Argentina was home to the Giganotosaurus, one of the largest dinosaurs to have walked the Earth? Archeological digs in recent decades show this country in particular to have been a hub for the species. Another place that Argentinians are digging for big things is on Pornhub, where ‘Big Dick’ proves to be the most popular category in the country.
The majority of the magic happens just around the witching hour in Argentina, with midnight to 1am proving to be the busiest time in terms of traffic volume. These late night sessions have also been observed to be popular in many other countries, notably the United Kingdom.
Having advanced all the way to the final match during the 2014 World Cup, the world got a look at how quick and agile Argentinians are when it comes to ball handling. The same can be said about their speedy 7 minute and 40 second average visit duration when they log on to the best site in the world, which is comparable to fellow South Americans Brazil and Chile, who both clock in at around 8 minutes each. All in all, South Americans seem to get the job done quite a bit quicker when compared to the worldwide 9 minute and 16 second average.
Regionally speaking, they shave almost a whole minute off of the national average time on site in the centrally located La Pampa Province, with their 6 minute and 50 second average. This region is Argentina’s most economically agricultural province so they’re likely speeding things along to get back to their duties on the farm ASAP. SEARCHING WITHIN
Argentina is a country rich in culture, history and self-focused searches on Pornhub. As we have seen in countries like Scotland and Hungary among several others, a nation’s top searched terms will often include that country’s ethnicity as well as variants thereof. With a little over a third of Argentina’s top 20 search terms relating specifically to the country itself, and ‘Argentina’ far surpassing any other search term on the list, it’s clear that Argentina is big on the self-love. Also ranking here are ‘hentai’ in 6th and ‘cartoon’ 9th showing the Argentinian affinity for animated entertainment, which can possibly be chalked up animation pioneer Quirino Cristiani having hailed from capital city Buenos Aires.
The interactive chart below combines both standard search terms as well as searches for porn stars and lists them by popularity, regionally. Overall, it appears that Argentinians are very dedicated to their leading ladies as, aside from ‘Argentina’, most of the top searches across the board are porn star names. The country is an international hub of sorts for cosmetic surgery thanks to the quality care available at competitive prices and as such, it is estimated that 1/30 Argentinians have undergone a cosmetic surgery procedure. This affinity for enhanced aesthetics may also explain the fact that performer names dominate search term lists more so than other traditional qualifiers such as ‘teen’ or ‘milf’. Over in Corrientes Province, ‘doctor’ makes in it at 14th place, perhaps explained by the fact that the region is home to the National University of the Northeast’s school of medicine. Back in the farming region of La Pampa, ‘FBB’ an acronym for Female Body Builder takes over second place, demonstrating the Province’s affinity for hard work and physical fitness. On to the main attraction: porn stars. As indicated in the combined searches above, Argentinians are devout fans when it comes to the babes that make the porno world go round. International favorite Lisa Ann (NSFW) takes the top spot, followed closely by current industry it girl Mia Khalifa. Living legend Mandingo (NSFW) comes in at an impressive 7th place, which is undoubtedly related to the ‘Big Dick’ category topping the list as the nation’s most viewed. The generally more popular Kim Kardashian also makes it on to the list, but only ranks at number 14 comparred to her 5th place rank in India, for instance.
SORRY TO INTERRUPT
It’s no secret that the Holidays cause the people of Pornhub to take a pause from their favorite website and spend time with loved ones, understandably affecting traffic. As we saw in our report on traffic rates around the Holidays in the US, Christmas Eve and New Years Eve both see traffic decreases of 43% and 38% respectively. Back in Argentina, this drop is slightly more drastic on New Years Eve at 55%, while Christmas Eve sees a mere 31% decrease. There is more than one reason to celebrate on Carnival Tuesday, where traffic actually increases by a solid 9% over the average rates.
The 2014 World Cup also caused some considerable dips in traffic during the final championship Match versus Germany. Let’s take another look at this chart from our Pornhub Traffic During the 2014 FIFA World Cup post to break the numbers down.
During the final match on July 13th, traffic dropped in both Argentina and Germany by a staggering 60%, whereas US traffic was relatively unaffected. The hosting nation of Brazil saw dips around 20% during game time but it was really once the match ended that traffic rates skyrocketed. Both in Germany and Argentina, traffic just after game time was up around 60%, with the former celebrating and the later likely consoling themselves after the loss. We have observed similar patterns during other sporting events as well, such as the recent CFB Playoff and anticipate the same for the next Super Bowl.
Last but not least is a look at Argentina’s traffic proportions by device. In 2014 we noticed an international shift towards mobile devices as the preferred platforms for porn viewing, as indicated by the 56% traffic shares taken up by smartphones and tablets on the international scale. On the other hand, Argentina still appears to prefer their porn on PC as nearly 70% of traffic here originates from computers. There is something undeniably enjoyable about enjoying a middle of the night Pornhub session on a bigger screen.
