Lube Options
Q: My girlfriend wanted to try something different so she got some weird lubes. One of them was warming and one of them was “climax control.” I don’t know which one it was, but one of them gave me a terrible reaction on my penis. I had an angry rash that took a week to go away. I do want to jump back into the world of lube with her, because I know it’ll help with the side effects of the medication she’s on. Can you recommend a lube that’ll work well and won’t leave me with a rash?
A: It sounds like you used a “lube” that has a numbing agent in it, which you may be sensitive to. If the lube is to help with her moisture, then I would recommend a silicone-based one because that one doesn’t dry up quickly like some water-based ones do. However, we can all have sensitivities to any number of chemicals in different lubes. So you should try putting a little bit on your penis and watch for a reaction. Instead of going for the “weird” lube, go for the most basic you could find (the least amount of ingredients).
STIs After Vasectomy
Q: Can you still get an STI if you had a vasectomy and do not use a condom?
A: 100%. Vasectomies only protect you from getting someone pregnant—that’s it. Safer sex means always using a condom to protect yourself from sexual transmitted diseases.
