The Eurovision 2025 Grand Finale was held Saturday, May 17 in Basel, Switzerland. As always, our statisticians were ready to capture the ripple effects of one of the most-watched televised events in Europe. And once again, the traffic told a fascinating story.
Let’s start with overall European traffic. As the live show began at 21:00 CET, traffic started to dip. By 22:00 it had dropped to -8.5% below average, reaching its lowest point of the night. The lull continued until just after midnight. Then, in a post-Eurovision rebound, traffic surged. At 01:00 it peaked at +5.2% above average, before gradually falling again in the early hours.

But nowhere was the Eurovision effect more dramatic than in Switzerland, the host country for this edition. Swiss traffic dropped sharply at 20:00 with the start of the live broadcast at -7.1%. By 21:00, it plunged to -15.2% and by 22:00 it bottomed out at -16.8%. But when the winner was announced and the tension broke, traffic rebounded spectacularly. At 01:00, Swiss users sent traffic skyrocketing to +17.2% above average before it began settling again.

Italy, which had not one but two fan favorites to root for, also saw a marked shift in behavior. Representing Italy was Lucio Corsi with his song “Volevo essere un duro,” while San Marino’s entry was the beloved Italian DJ Gabry Ponte. And it was exactly during his performance, around 23:00, that Italian traffic hit its lowest point of the night at -11%, clear proof that everyone was glued to the screen singing along to “Tutta l’Italia.” As the night wore on, traffic bounced back, reaching +12% above average at 01:00.

And then there was Tommy Cash. The Estonian artist competed in Eurovision 2025 with the infectious hit “Espresso Macchiato.” If you’ve been on the site lately, you may have seen his not safe for work music video for his song “Untz Untz,” which reimagines the Olympics are a surreal, sexually explicit competition.
We gave our friends at Rolling Stone Italia an exclusive preview of the jaw-dropping spike in searches for Tommy Cash on Pornhub following Eurovision—and it didn’t disappoint. Searches soared +4,828% on May 17, jumped to +11,854% on May 18, and exploded to +20,982% on May 19.

The winner of Eurovision 2025 was the artist JJ with the emotional ballad “Wasted Love.” Which means we’ll be back again in Austria for the 2026 edition.
We hope you enjoyed this edition of the Eurovision 2025 Insights!
