Star Wars: May the 4th Beat With You

Every year on May the 4th (aka Star Wars Day) we see a big increase in Star Wars related searches on Pornhub so Mashable asked the Insights team to take a closer look. In 2018, searches on the day grew 748% above average. That’s less than May 4th 2017 when they increased by 1048% but higher than the 633% increase in 2016.

The most popular Star Wars related search remains “Princess Leia”, but “Star Wars Rey” (referring to the character first introduced in 2017’s The Last Jedi) continues to gain popularity. Other popular character searches include “Ahsoka Tano” (Clone Wars), the humanoid species “Twilek” and “Padme Amidala” (The Phantom Menace).

Star Wars is often combined with other terms like “hentai” (NSFW), “cartoon” (NSFW) and “cosplay” so our statisticians thought it would be interesting to see what other types of porn the visitors searching Star Wars commonly look at.

The following list shows the top 25 terms that are most likely to be searched in the same visit session as a Star Wars search.

Topping the list is “parody” and “cosplay” but then we see several other game and movie searches including “Tomb Raider”, “Star Trek”, “Avengers“, “Fortnite“, “Flintstones”, “Dragon Ball Z”, “Halo”, “Overwatch” and “Call Duty”.

Other characters that pique the same visitor’s interest include “Princess Peach”, “Brigitte Overwatch“, “Wonder Woman” and “Harley Quinn“.

The demographics data shows that men are 38% more likely to search for Star Wars videos when compared to women. Our statisticians also found that Apple iOS users are 14% more likely to search compared to their Android counterparts and Windows users are 29% more into Star Wars porn than Apple desktop users.

Visitors aged 18-24 are 77% more likely to search Star Wars when compared to all other age groups, and those aged 25-34 are 11% more interested. Popularity of Star Wars decreases by age group with those over the age of 55 more than 50% less likely to search than younger visitors.
