The 2019 Greek legislative election was held on July 7th, 2019. Voting is compulsory in Greece, so Vice Greece asked the Pornhub Insights team to see if there was any effect on traffic and searches on the 7th and 8th.
Traffic on July 7th was down -8% in Greece at 12h (GMT+3), then rose steadily after 17h to a peak of +7 above average at 21h.
Oh July 8th, Pornhub’s traffic from Greece was up through most of day. From 8h to 9h in the morning traffic was +5% above average. The peak increase happened at 21h when traffic was +9% above average for that time of day and day of the week.
Greece’s most popular searches on July 7th and 8th were pretty similar to the daily averages through 2019, although we did notice that searches for the “ευοσμος” (Evosmos) region of Greece were trending since July 2nd so they had moved into second place.
The most popular categories didn’t differ on the 7th and 8th of July, with “Lesbian” (NSFW) and “Anal” (NSFW) still occupying the top two positions.
Out statisticians did however find that some categories had increased in popularity during the election. Perhaps the 62% increase in views of the “smoking” category was due to election stress.
