In a recent edition of Pornhub Insights, we looked at the most popular gay searches across the United States. So our friends at Metro UK asked us to look specifically at gay searches in the United Kingdom, along with the popular fetish of British Chav porn.
The most viewed category on Pornhub Gay (nsfw) in the United Kingdom is “Straight Guys”, followed by “Black” (nsfw). They were also the two most popular gay categories in the United States, although “Black” came first among Americans. Falling into third place is “Daddy”.
When compared to the rest of the world, the “Fetish” category is 48% more popular among gay viewers in the U.K. and gay “twink” videos are also 45% more popular in the U.K.
The most popular gay search in the U.K. is “straight first time”, which was also the number one search in the United States. Of the top 10 gay searches, we found that half involve videos featuring straight guys. The top relative searches showed that regional slang like “british chav” is nearly 1200% more popular in the U.K., along with “chav”, “british lads”, “english lads” and “wanking”.
The Oxford English Dictionary defines “chav” as an informal British derogatory, meaning “a young lower-class person who displays brash and loutish behaviour and wears real or imitation designer clothes”.
Our statisticians first took note of chav lads when we published the 2015 Year in Review and found that “british chav” was one of the top gaining search terms in the United Kingdom. Among both gay and straight visitors, it grew 169% in 2015 and gained an impressive 23 spots to become the 9th most popular U.K. search. Since then, it’s moved up two additional spots to become the 7th most popular search among all U.K. visitors.
Although “british chav” ranks slightly lower at 12th among the U.K.’s gay searches, terms containing “chav” are proportionately 102% more popular with Pornhub Gay visitors than with straight. Chav searches are mostly popular in Britain and Ireland, but we also found a significant number of chav searches from Pornhub Gay viewers in the Netherlands, France, Australia and the United States.
