The Taste Of Semen
Q: What does cum taste like? Can you change the taste?
A: The taste and smell of semen is usually not powerful and inoffensive. It has been described as tasting bitter, sweet, salty, musky or metallic. Semen is made up of lots of different chemicals and water made by the body and the smell and taste may vary from person to person. As for changing the taste, there is only anecdotal evidence. Some people believe that if they eat citrus fruits or pineapple, the taste of semen will be sweeter. Conversely, foods that produce a strong smell like broccoli, asparagus or cauliflower can make it smell or taste stronger. According to certain research, excessive alcohol or smoking may affect the quality and the taste of semen.
Orgasm Without Ejaculation
Q: Is it possible to have an orgasm without ejaculating? I mean, I’m asking from experience…so I know it’s possible. It’s happened to me a couple of times now. The first time, I wrote it off, but now that it’s happened again I thought I’d ask an expert. What does it mean? Will this be an ongoing issue? It’s not a problem when I’m alone, but I think a partner might have questions. Also, what does it mean for my health? Is this from some sort of underlying problem?
A: There is a benign (not dangerous) condition called Retrograde Ejaculation. Basically, you have the sensation of an orgasm but the ejaculate is, instead of coming out, it’s going into your bladder. What happens technically is that your bladder neck muscle is not tightening properly which allows the sperm to enter the bladder instead of being ejected out through your penis. You may notice that when you urinate after sex, that the urine is cloudy. The only risk to this is infertility. If you want to get a partner pregnant, you will need to ejaculate out. That is really the only time you would need to consult a doctor. So why does this happen? It is usually as a result of surgery in that area (like prostate surgery), a side effect of medication to treat depression, high blood pressure or an enlarged prostate, or due to some nerve damage due to a medical condition like diabetes as one example. Bottom line, this is not a dangerous condition. You may just need to explain this to your partner.
