After debate, former Miss Universe becomes Pornhub’s most searched for person.
On September 26th, over 80 million people tuned in to watch the first Presidential Debate between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton. At one point Mrs. Clinton called out Trump for his “Miss Piggy” remarks about former Miss Universe winner Alicia Machado, which he made in response to her post-pageant weight gain.
In the days following the debate, media was awash with stories about Alicia Machado and her history. Although she did pose nude for Playboy, it was also rumored that she had appeared in porn videos. Even Mr. Trump suggested via Twitter that people go “check out sex tape” for themselves.
Our friends at Vocative checked in to see if the rumour was enough to drive people to Pornhub. On September 28th, searches for Alicia Machado skyrocketed by 3029%, making her the most searched for person, and the 5th most popular search term on Pornhub that day.
Our statisticians also found a 3% increase in views of the “BBW” category on September 28th, although that may just be a coincidence.
