The UK Bans the Porn that Brits Love

On the morning of December 2 2014, news broke that the UK was set to ban certain types of activity from appearing in video-on-demand online streaming porn, as mandated by the Audiovisual Media Service Regulations of 2014. Specifically, content featuring acts involving spanking, caning, whipping, water sports, fisting, female ejaculation, and facesitting is no longer allowed to be produced in Great Britain. Luckily, this doesn’t mean that it is illegal for UK residents to continue consuming this type of porn, because it seems that they fancy it quite a bit!

The chart below depicts how much more popular all of these new porno no-no’s are in the United Kingdom when compared to the frequency with which they are searched in the rest of the world.

It seems as though these new restrictions specifically target BDSM-type and female-orgasm focused porn, which both appear to be UK favorites. Take for instance ‘caning’, (a technique used in BDSM in which the dominant repeatedly strikes the submissive with a long flexible cane) which is over 200% more popular as a search term in the United Kingdom than in the rest of the world. Other types of rougher sex play like spanking and whipping are 43% and 35% more likely to be searched in the UK than internationally, respectively.

Activities usually oriented around femdom, a genre which will be particularly affected by the ban, such as water sports, female ejaculation, and facesitting, are all around 20% more popular in the United Kingdom than abroad. Luckily, UK residents will still be able to get their freaky fixes by consuming this type of porn in the form of broadband import, though we will miss watching beautiful British fannies smothering those lucky blokes’ faces.

  1. I am a UK resident and I was already aware of, and appalled by, these new restrictions… but I did not know that it included female ejaculation! What on earth has that got to do with BDSM?

I’m really horrified about that particular ban and what it says about sexuality and sexism here in the UK. Obviously not all women ejaculate visibly, but it is by no means aberrant. Saying that 1) it is abnormal and 2) it is not allowed gives a clear statement that the UK government believes that women are not supposed to enjoy sex.

    Despicable.

    1. I do not think any of these sexual activities should be banned. Having said that, it appears to me like the vast majority of female ejaculation vids are actually women pissing.

    2. In the studies that have been done on this subject, the females who ejaculate are actually just peeing on their partner while cumming. I think the average yield was 99% urine and less than 1% cum. Their line of thinking would be banning piss porn – not woman who ejaculate. Obviously I don’t support this law in any way shape or form but I decided to take a moment to correct you on that.

      1. Actually those studies were done with incredibly small sample sizes, and still found a a significant number of woman had a mixture of urine and ejaculate during squirting. In reality, we can’t trust any science on the issue atm because there hasn’t been any serious attempts at understanding it.

        1. I’ve made plenty of females cum but if they have been squirting on you – I’m sorry but that wasn’t cum – That woman pissed on you friend. Good job.

      2. Accoding to “New Insights from One Case of Female Ejaculation” by Rubio-Casillas and Jannini (DOI: 10.1111/j.1743-6109.2011.02472.x)
Female ejaculating and squirting are two different phenomena.

        1. Yes, but they are referring to squirting in this legislation. If they just meant cumming then all porn where a woman looks like she is cumming would have been banned as well. From the study you cited.

Results.  In this case report, we provided new biochemical evidences demonstrating that the clear and abundant fluid that is ejected in gushes (squirting) is different from the real female ejaculation. While the first has the features of diluted urines (density: 1,001.67 ± 2.89; urea: 417.0 ± 42.88 mg/dL; creatinine: 21.37 ± 4.16 mg/dL; uric acid: 10.37 ± 1.48 mg/dL), the second is biochemically comparable to some components of male semen (prostate-specific antigen: 3.99 ± 0.60 × 103 ng/mL).

  2. So many elements of porn are already biased against women, and then this adds to the bias.

It’s a long time since I’ve seen anything that could be called ordinary fun, something that I could imagine doing. It’s like Ed Balls on Strictly, there’s an appeal in a performance that we can imagine ourselves doing.
