The first new Ghostbusters movie in nearly 30 years was released on July 14, and it seems that people were due for some ghostly action. Our friends at Bustle asked us to take a look and see if the ghostly phenomenon made it’s way onto Pornhub as well. Indeed, our statisticians found that in the week leading up to the movie, ghost related searches began to increase steadily on Pornhub, reaching 178% above average by July 18th.

Pokemon Porn Searches
Nintendo’s Pokemon Go mobile game was released in the United States on July 6, and quickly became a worldwide phenomenon. As we soon found out with our friends at Mashable, this immediately lead to an increase in Pokemon searches on Pornhub. As of July 11, searches were 136% above the daily average prior to the launch of the game. As the game is released in other worldwide markets, we expect to see similar increases.
Overwatch Game Update
Pornhub Insights recently reported a large increase in searches for “Overwatch” when the game entered public beta on May 4th. At the time of our Watching Over Overwatch story, we recorded a peak search increase of 817% on May 5. Much of the increase was driven by news coverage of the overly-sexualized content found in earlier beta versions.
Our statisticians continued to monitor Overwatch searches throughout the month, and found a second increased occurred when the final game officially launched on May 24th. As the following chart illustrates, the post-beta searches peaked 1102% on May 9th before slowly tapering off, then jumped again 947% above average on May 25th.
Please note that the index value representing average Overwatch searches has been re-calculated for this chart to include the new search volumes in the month of May. Based on the earlier average, searches on May 9 would have increased as much as 5143%.
May The 4th Beat With You
The force is strong with Pornhub users. So much so that ‘Star Wars’ searches increased an incredible 510% this May the 4th. And with Star Wars consistently being one of the most searched for porn parodies among our 60 million daily visitors, this number represents an empire worthy increase.
Game of Thrones Season Six Has Come
For fans of the HBO series Game of Thrones, Sunday April 24th saw the arrival of the highly anticipated Season 6, so the folks at Cinema Blend asked our statisticians to look for all data relating to Game of Thrones, and the results – especially those immediately after the premiere – were surprising. We discovered that Game of Thrones has remained a popular search on Pornhub due in part to various porn parodies and also from fans hoping to find a glimpse of the nudity and sex that the series is known for.
Star Wars Searches on Pornhub
Quite often, real-life events can have a drastic effect on the type of porn people search for. For this intergalactic edition of Insights, we’ve teamed up with our friends over at Metro US . “Star Wars” is already a popular search term on Pornhub, and various parody and tribute scenes can be found on our site. So it was no surprise that searches relating to Star Wars began to increase after the official trailer for “The Force Awakens” was released on October 19, 2015. At the time, searches went up 2.5 times the usual volume.
