Italian Crime Series Gomorrah Kills Pornhub Traffic

During the last few weeks, anticipation grew as Italians waited anxiously for the airing of a new season of Gomorrah. The TV show, produced by Sky and broadcast in 130 countries, has developed a cult following all around the world. After a two year wait, on Tuesday May 10th Italians were happy to finally see a new episode of their favorite TV show. The first two episodes recorded an audience of nearly 1.2 million, so our friends at Fanpage asked us to take a look at Pornhub traffic to see if Gomorrah-mania hit our Italian visitors as well.

Using our data analytics tool, Pornhub’s statisticians compiled anonymous data from millions of Italian visitors to determine not only the tastes of 18-34 year olds, but also how men and women differ and how they compare to the rest of Europe and the world.

Coming of Age: Millennials

The Millennial generation, members of which are also sometimes referred to as Echo Boomers, consists of the demographic cohort born roughly between the years 1982 and 2000. Through a special collaboration with our friends over at Mic.com, we’re taking a look at the particular way that Pornhub’s 18-34 users interact with the largest adult site in the world. Touted by some as the most tech savvy generation to date, millennials are generally known for being glued to their phones and sharing all aspects of their lives on social media. Thanks in part to the open and rapid access to information afforded to this group by the web in their formative years, the sense of media awareness and general world views of these 18-34 year-olds truly sets them apart from previous generations in the way that they consume online. Up in Smoke

What’s your secret taboo? Special kink? Recently, the Pornhub statisticians have been taking a closer look at some of the most popular niches among our users, while examining and teasing out some trends within these groups. We’ve looked into BDSM as well as how the 50 Shades of Grey film affected these types of searches on our site. This particular installment in on smoking. While the smoking fetish is certainly a popular one on Pornhub, our findings quickly revealed that in addition to a strong interest in or fetishization of the act of smoking itself, there appears to be many marijuana affectionados among our users. As such, for this special collab with High Times, we’ve divided this post into two parts; the first focusing on the wonderful world of weed-related porn searches and the second honing in on general smoking-specific data.
