Pornhub’s 2016 Year in Review

It may have seemed like 2016 was never going to end, but here we are at the beginning of what we’re hoping will be a happy and healthy 2017. Overall it’s been a pretty steady ride, but boy are we excited to kick off a new chapter! We’ve had a great year at Pornhub, and our Insights blog has delivered tons of awesome data over the course of 2016. Throughout the year we’ve covered interesting search trends analyzing the cultural intersection between Pornhub and the likes of ClownsPokemonPoliticians, and even Super Heroes.

Women’s Favorite Searches Worldwide

To close out International Women’s Month, we teamed up with our friends over at Bustle to bring you the latest data on the porn viewing interests of women. Over the last few years, Pornhub has taken a closer look at female visitors in our What Women Want and More of What Women Want posts. In both cases, much of our focus was comparing women to men to see how their porn viewing habits differ. For Women’s Day, we decided to leave men out of the picture, and looking at how women around the world differ from each other.

Carnival in Cologne Germany

Cologne’s world-famous Carnival celebration (aka Köln Karneval) annually attracts around 1 million visitors to this German city. After seeing how other events like Oktoberfest can affect traffic and searches, the folks at Chip.de asked the Pornhub Statisticians to keep an eye on data related to Karneval.

Pornhub Traffic During Super Bowl 50

Pornhub Insights has shown many times before how televised sports events can greatly affect traffic to our site. Take for example our coverage of the NBA, NHL and World Cup.  In 2015 we also found that Super Bowl 49 had caused a major traffic fluctuation during the game, so our friends at the New York Daily News were curious to see if the same held true one year later.  On Sunday February 7, 2016 the Carolina Panthers met the Denver Broncos at Levi Stadium in San Francisco Bay Area to determine who would be the National Football League Champion. In the end, the Broncos came out ahead 24 to 10.
